Do You Share Your Blog with Family and Friends?

The answer for me is no. Outside of my husband and daughters, so far I have not told anyone I know that I have a blog. Am is strange for doing this? The question that I wonder about is if I am the only one who keeps this little world a secret from my larger world? I am not sure the reasons completely but some of them for sure are:
1. I guess I wonder if they think I have anything relevant to say.

2. Do I want to answer all the questions every time someone says, "hey she has a blog." The whys and the hows and what am I doing on this blog. You all know the answers to that question because most of you are already bloggers.

3. Maybe no one will care but my husband's family is sometimes a rough crowd and I just haven't wanted to go there with them. This is probably the main reason I don't share the blog.

4. Will I ever share it with my family and friends and the answer is probably yes when one of my kids mentions it and I am forced to spill the beans.
-That's if anyone cares. It is not something I think about often or dwell on. My girls and hubby read it regularly and it is a nice way for my husband to see what I am doing while he is working out of town.

Tell me what you think. Am I the only one?

I only recently told one of my friends that I have a blog and I've been blogging for a couple of years. My husband's family knows as well as my kids but it's a secret...silly huh?

My family is scattered across the U.S. so yes, they read my blog. This way they know what's going on. Most of my friends know. No one at work knows because I don't want to have to stop and think, "I wonder if this is appropriate to post." My friends and family already know that I'm very rarely appropriate.

No one outside of my husband and 2 boys know I have a blog. I intend to keep it that way. The blog for me is a quiet private place, where I am free to share about my crafts and creativity without the questions and eye rolling. We bloggers get it, and I'm not so sure anyone else does. It is a special place where I can be who I am.

Well, I guess I'm in good company because I haven't told anyone here on the Island either although I do have a blogger friend here. My hubby and kids know because two of my guys live away and they can visit my blog and see what's going on with their mom. They think it's great! My hubby doesn't quite get it when I tell him not to advertise it.
The only other people who know are a few family members scattered about Canada and the US. Like Faith above, this is my special place and I get to be myself.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hi I am a friend of Holly. I have told family about my blog but I don't think the care all that much and I don't think they read it...seems like most family are caught up in their own little world...which is why I like blogging....it's my own little thing.

After reading the other comments, I kind of wish I hadn't told so many people about my blog. I'm not sure if they read it, but I am always asking myself what so and so might think about what I'm writing. I do know that my middle son (26) reads every post. I'm not sure why, but he does like to garden, bake, etc.

Actually, one of the main reasons I started writing my blog was for my mother-in-law because she lives in New Orleans, and she is sick, and she can't visit like she used to....most of my friends think my blog is funny. They think I'm funny, anyway, so.....whatever. ;P

I have had a few snarky comments. Trip's aunt said, "My! Don't you have a lot of energy!" :/

So now I just don't mention it to anyone.

I'm actually brand new to blogging and have a blog but I have it set to private right now so nobody can see it! :) As soon as I get the nerve to open it up, I won't tell anyone I know about it, atleast not for a while!!

This is a funny subject. I have told family they could careless. I have a few friends that pop in now and then.Really just a couple of close friends read it. This really is a special place I drop into. I try not to tell people at work I don't like to mix personal with work much.

Very few people know, and I really wish that no one did! Because I have to sometimes think about what I'm saying, and that stinks. My very best friend doesn't know, because although I love her, she has a tendency to speak before she thinks, and I don't want inappropriate comments from her on my blog. Also, I don't want her totally in my business! Only my daughter, my husband, my sister, and one friend know. If I could turn back time, I would tell no one!

I just ran across your blog by coincidence and thought I'd leave a comment. Hope you don't mind. I think I'll stop by and visit in the future.

To answer your question. My family knows about my blog. Only my daughters and my husband read it though. Most of the rest of my family could careless and probably don't think I have much to say. So I go about my blogging and hope someone likes it enough to leave a comment now and then.

I like your blog and look forward to reading and shareing more with you. Who knows maybe we'll become friends. You can never have too many!

I actually posted on this a few months ago. I was outed by a friend on Facebook. I had pretty much kept it a secret. I know a lot of people follow it, but never say anything so not to alert me as to who they are (actually I sort of know they drop hints, daily). You have a charming blog. I am so glad you introduced yourself to me. Hugs! Bonnie

I have told some of my friends I have a blog but not given it's title out, they don't share the same interests as me and I don't feel the need for them to read it. My sister has given my blog address out to cousins in Ireland and a cousin here, but nobody has left a message and I'm glad. I love the fact the people who read my blog love the things I do and I love reading their blogs, no matter where in the world they are. Bee

yes close family & friends know. We have friends who live overseas so they read it. But the blog is really a diary of our days nothing mindblowing.

My immediate family knows about my blog, and a few very good friends. I have some other friends who constantly bombard me with their medical issues because I am a nurse, and so I don't tell them about it. My blog is for the fun things in life and I want to keep it light-hearted and free from too many depressing things. There are some days I allow a snip-it of a serious nature to land on my posting, but I for one would rather restrict it to crochet, knitting, quilting, recipes and any other thing that perks me up as well as others :)

Hi Elaine:

I just found your blog and as you can tell, I am reading some of your older posts and enjoying every one of them. I love this one in particular because I don't share my blog with everyone in my life because I don't think they would understand like my fellow blogger friends do. Its such a unique community of women who share the same interests and I can see from reading your blog, you and I are a lot alike. Nice to meet you and I look forward to visiting with you.
