Happy Thanksgiving

A Little Sign in My Kitchen

The stuffing is made and the sweet potatoes cooling. Next is my husband's favorite apple pie. I am deep in prep mode for tomorrow. It is just us at home but I make a ton of food and we eat it for days. Life is very full right now as we have been hustling to get my daughter's forms in as she found out she was accepted for advancing her nursing degree. She will start next semester. She will work full time and do the program. I of course felt she should take time off but she does not want to waste time and wants to get it done. Truly a child that pushes herself (too hard at times). But I am thankful she was accepted. Also my first born baby is moving out. Yes, I cannot believe it. Times they are a changing around here. She is so grown now and just itching to get out on her own and will share a little house with one of her friends.

We have been trimming our own trees so I have been working each day trying to cut up the branches. Sometimes I feel I am too old for such labor but then again I am too cheap to pay someone to do it so I look at it as good exercise.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving if you live in the U.S. I am truly blessed and cry during Thanksgiving grace each year. I am such a sap. I will be back Friday. No shopping for me except online. I hate crowds. I do more and more online. Love shopping in my jammies. Blessings to you all.

Lots happening in your neck of the woods. Congrats to your daughter on advancing her degree! I will not be shopping in stores on Friday, either. May look online a bit, but will not be waiting in any lines!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Elaine!! All of that food sounds dreamy! Since our big dinner is over, the hubby is home early today and we're beginning to decorate a bit for Christmas!!! :)

A happy Thanksgiving to you, also! Like you, I make a ton of food and live off the "fat of the" . . . freezer for many a week after Thanksgiving. On Friday I make turkey stock from the carcass, and in the evening go to our town's Christmas tree lighting -- no shopping at all for me. I don't think I have ever gone on Black Friday in my life!

My oldest daughter (mother to the 2 grandkids) and her companion are both victims of Black Friday creep into Thanksgiving -- they work for Target, so have to work.

#2 daughter will be spending her first Thanksgiving away from our home, in her home in Austin.

#3 daughter is on the Megabus as we speak, traveling home from the other side of the state.

#4 daughter -- painting in the screen porch.

me -- wasting time on the computer instead of prepping for tomorrow, which is what I need to do!

Happy Thanksgiving! When a child leaves the nest it is hard, but a great opportunity to pass some nice things from your home on to her!

Happy Thanksgiving Elaine. I am so excited for your RN daughter. I think it is best to go on to school. I got married and then while I was trying to get my other degree I decided to go through my infertility work up instead and got sidetracked. Now do not get me wrong CC is better than any degree but I wish I had done it right after I became an RN.

I wouldn't go out in those crowds tomorrow if someone paid me to. I will be home in fresh jammies after my morning shower, having a quiet day with the dogs.

Enjoy your family time! I know how it feels as the kids grow up and things change!! I will also be home on Friday as there isn't anything in those stores that would get me to fight the crowds!

You have big changes coming in the new year. and many blessings.
I think no matter what our circumstances we could all be thankful even if it is just for breathing in and out.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving Elaine. Congratulations to your daughter, she must have her mother's work ethic. Good for her. I'm not a Black Friday girl, the crowds and mania and sometimes there greediness. Just not for me. Ann

So wonderful to see our children grow up and achieve some of their dreams!
I simply refuse to shop on the holiday. This consumer will be staying home.
Hope you have a very happy thanksgiving.

Hi Elaine. How exciting for your daughter to be pursuing her nursing career! AND to be moving out into her first place too. Is this the same daughter??? It is so hard when that first one moves out. It was for me, at least. But you adapt.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving tomorrow! It is just us here too. Which I love!!
Oh and about doing hard labor....I do it all the time, and I have a few years on you. I worked my tail off all day, shopping, then cleaning the house all day, and then topped it off with some much needed yard work, and I am aching!!!!
Hugs,
Miss you,
Kris

I am one who thinks Black Friday should be banned especially as it now has taken over part of Thanksgiving Day. I refuse to shop the Friday after Thanksgiving. Do alot of my shopping on line in my pjs. Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all.

Hello Elaine,
I'm just sure you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with your family. Your post made my mouth water. You are a wonderful homemaker, wife and Mom. It is truly your passion.

I always love stopping by and I and find my head lifted up just a little higher with your genuine posts.

I, too, avoid crowds like the plague. The hustle and bustle just wears me out. I was kind of sad to see how many stores were open on this day knowing that it would separate families on a day that has been reserved for them.

I hope you have a restful day and enjoy all those wonderful turkey dinner leftovers.

Blessings,
Carolynn xo
