What's With All the No Reply Commenters?

Increasingly more of the comments I get on the blog are from many who have somehow set their comment status to no reply. You ask me questions or I would love to respond to your comment but I can't. I am not sure what has changed that so many folks now have this setting. It may have something to do with Google+.

I miss being able to respond so if you have noticed you have been leaving comments or questions on blogs but not getting answers back, this may be how you have your setting for now.

Here is a tutorial I found online to change it. If anyone else knows of a better one let me know and I will add that link.

Thanks! I was one of the culprits yesterday. I followed the tutorial, hopefully I am "reply" commenter now :)

I was one Elaine and didn't even know it until a nice blogger clued me in. Now I'm a reply blogger :) Have a good one!

So happy I'm not, but I've seen some like it and thought it was their choosing. Thanks for the tip.

I know we've talked about this before Elaine. Thanks for addressing it here. I agree, the number has increased lately. Next Friday is our get together for February...email me.

Thanks so much for sharing this, Elaine! I've been told in the past that I was a "No Reply" blogger. My husband and I weren't sure how to fix it, and we tried everything. I just followed the easy tutorial on the link you provided, and mine was set correctly. Apparently, we had fixed mine and didn't realize it. At least I hope it's fixed. :)

Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I still get no-reply commenters and if I have something to say or answer back...because THEY DO ASK QUESTIONS. I just leave a reply comment in my own comments. I think you have to go in to your comments settings to arrange that as well.
It so you can have an ongoing conversation in the comment section.
But, I'm like you ---I like to send out a friendly email to my readers, as I have all my comments come into my box.

I'm going to check the link, anyway, :) Pat

I've noticed that, too! And one doesn't even know if one is part of that group until you go look. I know mine started doing that at one time, and I went in and changed it -- I'll have to check again -- thanks for posting the tutorial. I think sometimes Blogger resets itself randomly.

Unfortunately, sometimes, there is a reason. I find that if a no reply blogger (like me) asks a question, I can always go to their blog and answer the question. I know that it can be bothersome, but there are ways around it.

I'm finding more and more of these commenters, too, plus yesterday I had to add Comment Moderation to my blog because I've been getting up to 5 spam comments daily!

I am so computer illiterate that I could unknowingly have it set to no reply. I will check to make sure.
Thanks for letting us know.

I became a no reply blogger when I switched to Google+. I wasn't aware it had happened. Removing Google+ fixed the problem but I would like find out how to have it without it triggering no reply.

This confuses me. I once had someone tell me that I was a no reply...but she'd turned up in my email. The no-reply posts seem to apply to Blogger and not Wordpress

on my end...unless I ask a specific question or something on a blog, I just comment to let them know I'd been there and taken the time to comment...I do not generally return to see if they answer. If someone comments on my blog, unless THEY have a specific question I generally do not answer them but try to visit THEIR blog within the next few days if I don't already visit them regularly

So...lol basically this is confusing :) But maybe it is just a Blogger thing / not Wordpress?

I also saw the lady a few comments above saying that she's getting 5 spams daily....I get ( easily ) 100 or more spams caught by Askimet on a daily basis...it drives me crazy! Because every once in awhile they catch a "real' person, so I try to take the time to go through the list

It APPEARS as if the spammers go to some image source on Google to target me...I don't know how much spam others get but I thought to ask about that as well now! :)

Thanks for the fix! I'm getting to hate Google, it just takes over everything!
